I would like to express my thanks to Joe McGuffin, for coming out and giving his presentation to the class.
I realize that while it wasn't art intenstive, I hope it was beneficial for you all to see the business side of things.
For those of you who were wondering what Joe's art looks like, here are some samples: |

There is an energy when you have a great class and a great model. When you have no model, you have no energy and a pretty dead class.
I apologize for last week's fiasco. Thanks to Jack Hoffman for showing up on such short notice. This week we have Mike Falls who is very reliable.
Incidentally, I subscribe to Bob Kato's Drawing Club newsletter. He's a teacher at the school I graduated from who I never had as an instructor when I was a student. He runs a drawing workshop out of his studio of costumed models with a different theme every week.
Here is the quote that blew my mind: "Last Thursday night there was a mix up and our model couldn't make it. Incredibly, this is the first time something like this has happened at The Drawing Club since we started over four and a half years ago after doing nearly 250 workshops. I guess we should feel lucky..."
I think that's simply incredible. If you click on the link to their blog you can see what the model wore and what everyone drew. |

Found an interesting article on Illustration by Marc Burkhardt. It is basically about how art directors are turning to using fine art as illustration.
Also note some comments on Irene Gallo's site.
The original article by Rob Dunlavey that started all this. |
